Duel In The Pool Sydney 2022

It is time for another exciting sporting swimming event in Sydney Australia!

Duel in the Pool is back in Australia for the first time since 2007. This exciting swimming event runs from August 19 to August 21 2022. Make sure that you bookmark this page so that we can let you know when tickets go on sale.

What is The Duel In The Pool All About?

This time, we will see Australia and the United States face each other in the pool.

The format is slightly different from the last time and promises to have even more to offer.

Each country will select a team consisting of 30 Olympic, Paralympic and National Team athletes. This exciting face-off takes place at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre or SOPAC for short.

To add to the excitement, there is also an Open Water swimming component at Sydney’s famous Bondi beach.

The organisers of the event would like to showcase innovation and everything that is good about swimming with new races and relay formats not seen before. The focus is very much on getting both swimming fans and those new to swimming to engage with the sport.

Supporters and Sponsors of the Event

The event is delivered with the help and support of Destination NSW ( New South Wales) and incorporates a range of well-known Sydney locations. The idea is to broaden the appeal of swimming in Australia and beyond. The team behind the Duel in The Pool hopes that the event will appeal to both swimmers and non-swimmers.

Broadening the appeal of the event should hopefully shine a light on the many exciting innovations in Australian swimming.

Eugénie Buckley, the CEO of Swimming Australia, is convinced the event will get more people interested in the sport. At the same time, she believes the Duel in the Pool will boost visitor numbers to Australia. Hopefully, it will also engage young people from all parts of society and make them choose swimming as a sport.

Duel In The Pool New Format

This time around, the Duel in the Pool comes to us in a slightly different format. There is going to be a strong focus on fan and visitor engagement. This is going to be delivered to both visitors and athletes thanks to exciting pool deck concepts not previously seen in swimming.

According to the President and CEO of USA Swimming, Tim Hinchey III, athletes thrive on competing against each other and challenging themselves. He was quick to add that Australian and US teams have a long history of competing against each other.

The focus is very much on competition in a visitor-friendly environment. The US Swimming team is proud to partner with Swimming Australia when it comes to this amazing event and challenge.

At the same time, both teams hope to attract more people, both young and old, to swimming as a sport.

More Sporting Events in Sydney

After the main event, Swimming Australia is hosting the Sydney Sprints at SOPAC. This is another sporting event which is likely to attract competitors and visitors from all over the world.

The event will incorporate the Australian Short Course Swimming Championships which are also open to international competitors. This is the major international swim event hosted by Australia since the start of the pandemic.

This fabulous week of swimming concludes with the annual Swimming Australia Awards.

Rivalry Between Australian and USA Swimming Teams

It has to be said that the rivalry between the two nations is legendary. Both enjoy and have competed against each other in many swimming competitions in the world. The two nations have also gone head to head against each other in the Olympics.
