Fitness & Fun

If you are wanting to join a Swimming Club on the Peninsula, then look no further. Southern Cross Swimming Club uses Southern Cross Catholic College’s pool facility as it’s home base. It boasts a beautiful, 50m outdoor swimming pool, heated all year round. Although a completely separate entity from Southern Cross Catholic College, we have a close relationship with them as well as with Ripple Swim who offer all levels of swimming teaching and training.

A Club For Everyone

Southern Cross is known for it’s fun, friendly, all inclusive, family atmosphere, competitive spirit and an overall wonderful environment for those wishing to join the swimming fraternity.

From those who are just starting to dip their toe in the water to those competitive swimmers at state and national level, we focus on encouragement and bringing out the very best in everyone.

Southern Cross Swimming Club works tirelessly with Ripple Swim who provide the Learn to Swim program and the Squad Training.
Ripple Swim is headed up by Head Coach and ex-Olympian Jayden Hadler. Fees for these aspects of swimming are set by and payable to Ripple Swim.

The SCSC provides those swimmers who would like to compete either at a social club level or at competitive inter-club, state or national level, the ability to compete in Swimming Queensland’s sanctioned meets or our very own Club Nights. Becoming a member is easy as it is all done through Swimming Australia’s Swim Central portal.

Our Club Nights run each Thursday night throughout the swimming season (school terms 4 and 1) and we welcome everyone.  Kicking off with a sumptuous BBQ at 5pm, combined with a little music to get everyone relaxed and having fun, and marshalling and events commencing at 6pm.  It always proves to be a great evening of fun competition and memorable experiences.

Club Nights for the 2021-2022 season will be commencing on Thursday 14th October.

Races are multi-aged and seeded by best times, and swimmers are scored against their own best times.

Admission is $5 per family per week and swimmers under 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult when attending club nights or any club activities and competitions. We rely on families to help out at Club Nights with time keeping, cooking and serving at the BBQ, etc.

We hold these annually at completion of the season and usually on a weekend.  Swimmers compete in set distances against other swimmers of their own age.  We always provide a BBQ and snacks throughout the day.  Again, we rely on family volunteers to help out with the running of the day.  Swimmers receive medals on the day.
